BLOGWORLD. May 17 update: Michelle Malkin reports a breakthrough in the mostly craven U.S. Media. Major American liberal magazine Harper's is publishing the notorious Mohammed cartoons.....AllahPundit, subbing for Michelle Malkin, adds to cartoonitis. April 07 update: Blackfive cheers South Park's defying of Mainstream Dhimmi World. Another thorough report from Michelle Malkin, and likewise from The Anchoress and The Jawa Report. April 11 update: Captain's Quarters on a new Christian movement about the right to offend, "Tolerating Intolerance"

So don't offend any. Just cry "Fire!' in a crowded theatre, instead.

You won't offend the [Christians?] muslims.

Wow...did you do this drawing?
Posted by: Liquid | March 18, 2006 at 08:35 PM
While the sketch bears a certain resemblance to Richard Speck, the text is undenibly autobiographical.
Wedeen is correct that Gringoman is part of a blogging 'hermit kingdom' closer to Roswell than the american mainstream.
Not a "bien pensant" in sight, only simple ideological nostrums disquised as knowledge from people who, like Gringoman, know nothing.

Was Richard Speck the green-faced logician on Star Trek?
Sheer Genius Mr Edwards! I had not noticed until your post that the "Sketch" pencilled by Gringoman is dated March of 2005, or about one year before the neo-con hermit kingdom flap over the muslim reaction to the cartoons depicting the Prophet.
Hence the caption must be the musings of the artist and not his subject!
Just more bushit from the hermit kingdom where all things are beautiful and your (Iraqi) dentist is more up on mid-east affaires than your State Department!
And no, not the dedication of a Blum, the clear eyes of a Camus, or the marriage of objectivity and patriotism found in a Raymond Aron, would ever be found in this hermit kingdom.

Professor Comrade Eduardos:
Speaking of Roswell, here's a chance for you to stop being a UFO (Unmitigated Flying Obfuscation) for a moment. Come out of your space ship, where you've been hiding from the Islamites for weeks now. Come on out. That is, tell the earthlings if you endorse the Anti-Islamist Manifesto (announced here on March 1) signed by 12 progressives in Europe---(the brave, self-respecting type of progressive---you've heard of that kind?) Your protege, the proglydyte Wedeen, has been skulking away from this question for weeks, but surely his marxodized mentor will stand up and be counted---one way or the other. Or do we expect too much of you? Go ahead. Show us what a "liberal" is made of today. Or do it for Wedeen's welfare. Show him 'critical thinking'by a homo sapien standing up straight. Try being being a forthright prog. Wedeen could get over the shock.

Weedman,
On the matter of time "discrepancy" between artist and subject, you disappoint yet again. So sad. After all these years under the "magical realism" wing of the nerudista Edwards, you still suffer from the constipation of chronology? Or were you just giving another demo on the bolshiebooboisie? Whatever, the invitation to your marxomentor extends to you too. You have a chance to do something about the Anti-Islamist Manifesto you've been dodging since March 1. You've been compared to certain creatures that hide from the light of day. The Baroness Alexandra made short work of you. Well, here's your big chance. Endorse or not the Manifesto. Tell the earthlings if you're for it or against it. Go ahead. You can take a mini-break from the platitudes about the Nazi Americans who you feel are out of touch with the socialists and the other rabble rousers. You can stand up like a two-legged homo sapien. Now. Try it. You might like it.

Gringoman has been so busy defending the homeland from any criticism, real or imagined, that perhaps he has not had the opportunity to read the Fisk piece- posted twice- by my chilean comrade. Without putting words in Fisks mouth, I'd say he believes you had it coming.
I can understand that this is a touchy time for 'yanks a droit' who are seeing first hand the unravelling of their ideology in the face of universal opposition and condemnation.
Still down in the hermit kingdom blogosphere where all things are beautiful and it is a full time preoccupation defending republo-america from "libs" and "terrorists"; the "other" created to be the bogeyman!
Boo!

If BABnik Wedeen ever becomes de-PROGrammed enough, he might notice that the Fisk apologia for terror has been fisked already. If BABnik can't find it, he might try getting through to any brain tissue that's coherent enough to understand that Fisk is doing what every "courageous dissenter" is doing: opposing the side that will tolerate him and defending the side that would behead him. I'll bet even Le Devoir can figure that out (when the faithful subscribers aren't around.)Pretty soon you might even understand how "Fisk" has immortalized himself as a verb in the English language.
Posted by: gringoman | March 25, 2006 at 04:30 PM
Perhaps Gringomans brain synapse is not firing on all four cylinders. His repeated entreaties for an affirmation or rejection of "the islamic manifesto" was answered. Apparently this was not the answer he wanted thus his attacks on the journalist Fisk.
We take it from your response here that Mr Fisk is not a card carrying mamber of the neo-con hermit kingdom, where all things are beautiful and the american government speaks through a (iraqi?) dentist.
(BTW Le Devoir, like the totality of the planets press, opposes the Bush regime. I suppose this too will reinforse your bunker mentality.. ie, "Trevor, I think we are winning the war")
